A Women's-Specific Off-Road Shoe for Trail and Gravel
The Shimano XC1W (XC102W) in black is designed for women moving to clipless pedals on the trail or gravel for the first time, or for established off-road riders who want a dependable, no-nonsense shoe shaped around a women's-specific last. It pairs the fit philosophy of Shimano's higher-tier off-road footwear with entry-level value, making it one of the most popular gateway shoes for cross-country, gravel and adventure riding.
The understated black colourway works equally well on the trail, the gravel start line or the commute, and the construction draws directly from lessons learned across Shimano's wider off-road shoe range.
Women's-Specific Fit
The XC1W is built on a women's-specific last, with a narrower heel cup, lower instep volume and slimmer forefoot profile than the unisex XC1. The result is a more secure hold for riders who typically find standard off-road shoes too generous through the heel, reducing slippage on the pedal stroke and improving overall comfort over long miles on rough terrain.
Secure, Adjustable Closure
A triple hook-and-loop strap closure allows the rider to fine-tune tension across the forefoot, midfoot and instep. The straps are positioned to reduce hot spots and distribute pressure evenly, which matters as much on a four-hour gravel ride as it does on a punchy cross-country lap.
The synthetic leather upper is reinforced in high-wear zones and includes mesh panels to promote airflow, helping to keep feet cool and dry on warm-weather rides.
Efficient Power Transfer With Off-Bike Practicality
Underfoot, a glass fibre reinforced midsole delivers the stiffness needed to drive power into the pedals without flexing through the stroke. A rugged, lugged rubber outsole is moulded over the top, providing grip and protection for hike-a-bike sections, technical descents on foot, and walking around at the café or trailhead.
Two-Bolt SPD Compatibility
The XC1W is compatible with two-bolt SPD-style cleats, making it an ideal match for the full range of Shimano off-road and touring pedals, as well as the wider ecosystem of two-bolt clipless systems used across mountain biking, gravel, indoor cycling and commuting.

Fit Tip: Measure both feet while standing and use the larger measurement if they differ.
How to Measure Foot Length
Step-by-Step Measurement
Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor and stand on it wearing a pair of cycling socks.
Mark the back of the heel and the tip of the longest toe, then measure the distance between the two points in centimetres.
Repeat the process for the other foot, as most riders have one foot slightly longer than the other.
Take the larger of the two measurements and match it to the chart above to find the correct size.
